Six Dharwad Students Arrested for Uploading Vulgar Content on Instagram
Dharwad: Six students residing and studying in Dharwad have been arrested by the Hubballi-Dharwad police for editing photos of young college girls with vulgar stickers and adding inappropriate voice messages, which they then uploaded to Instagram.
According to a complaint filed by a person named Kumar, a group photo of his female classmates was uploaded on Instagram. Some individuals downloaded the image, edited it with vulgar content, and reposted it on various Instagram pages. When the victims confronted the perpetrators, they demanded ₹15,000 to delete the edited photos and threatened to upload more images if the payment was not made.
The Dharwad Suburban Police swiftly registered a case and apprehended six suspects within 24 hours. The accused are identified as Sachin Kadakbhavi from Gokak, Akash Meti from Muddebihal, and Prakash Navalur from Kelageri, Dharwad—all three are students. The remaining three accused, Mounesh Badiger from Ramdurg, Anand Sendagi from Rayabag, and Sunil Parvatikar from Gokak, are residing in Dharwad and preparing for various competitive exams.
The police are still searching for two additional suspects who remain at large.
